Do you love stories?
Everyone loves stories as stories have moral and they motivate us as well teach us varies lessons about life.
Every story in Vedas has moral behind it for example Mahabharata. Every aspect, every character of Mahabharat teaches us various lessons about each walk of life.
So let us enquiry into what can be the moral behind “Krishna Janmashtami story” ?
Krishna represents “Atma/ Brahma” and
Krishna Janm i.e. birth of Krishna symbolises with Self-realization.
How?
Let us try to understand the philosophical perspective behind Krishna Janmashtami.
In the story, Devki and Nand are described as caged into darkness tied in chains.
Here cage/ prison symbolises “Ignorance” and chains as bondages of lust ,greed ,desires and especially Ego. Means we are caged in this ignorant world with bondages of desires, ego and ignorance.
Later in the story ,Devki and Nand after going through alot of hardship and struggle give birth to 8 children who eventually die.
This hardship of eight children symbolises with “Ashtang Yog” i.e. to come out of the chains and prison of the world we must follow the hardship path of “Ashtang Yog” i.e. Yam, Niyam, Asan ,Pranayam ,Pratyahar, Dhyan, Dharana and Samadhi.
Then in the story Krishna is born and the chains fall off and prison door opens.
This symbolises that after Krishna birth i.e. after self-realization the bondages of five senses fall off and internal door opens to free us from ignorant external world.
Later in the story when Krishna travels out of prison…… the night is full of rains and thunderstorm.
This signifies that during process of self realisation there is a lot of turbulence of thoughts, emotions and desires in the mind.
But when Krishna steps foot in turbulent water everything settles down this shows that after self-realization the mind becomes calm and quiet.
So the moral of the story is- “The path to self realisation it’s full of hardship but the end fruit is complete BLISS”.
In our previous Health Mantra we discuss that from chaturmas Lord Krishna goes in YOG NIDRA which symbolically initiates us to start meditating and then Krishna Janm ( Birth of Krishna) in chaturmas motivate us to continue our meditation.
So our Health Mantra number- 06 is
“Start meditating from chaturmas so that you experience the birth of Lord Krishna inside you i.e. you experience self realisation.”
In our next blog we will discuss about Hartalika.
Till then ……Stay Healthy Stay Blessed.
Thank you.

Stay Healthy Stay Blessed .

In our past videos we learnt that if our Immunity is good we remain healthy .And to keep immunity good we must change lifestyle according to season change .
What seasonal changes should be made in diet and routine are told by Festivals.
How ?
That is discussed in our last Health mantra no – 05 video . The link of that video is given at the end of this blog.
So if we follow lifestyle changes told by festivals then we remain healthy. But those changes should not be followed only during that festival. But lifestyle changes should be imbibed from that festival till next festival.
So our todays topic is “From Naarali Pournima start eating coconut and remain healthy.“
How ?
Well to understand this, we must inquire into the Science behind Narali Pournima.
When does Naarali Pournima come ?
On Pournima of Shravan, when rainy season is about to end and october heat is going to start.
So what changes we should do in lifestyle ?
We should slowly stop Varsha/rainy lifestyle of hot, spicy and fried food and change to Sharad Hritu /October heat lifestyle.
So what is Sharad Hritu /October heat lifestyle?
That is told on festival Naarali pournima.
On Naarali Pournima we are advised to eat sugar, rice and coconut.
Things advised on festivals symbolically tells us what changes to do.
Like COCONUT symbolically tells us to eat White, Sweet and things with lot of water in it as these reduces Pittah as well Vaat.
Let’s understand these symbolical language in a bit detail.
So our Health Mantra – 06 is
“ Stop eating Rainy diet ie spicy, hot, fried and slowly start eating Summer diet ie White, Watery and Sweet.”
Coconut has all above properties. It is fruit, sweet, watery and white. So it balances Vaat as well Pittah and keeps you healthy .
So from Naarali Pournima start eating coconut everyday in diet in varied forms to remain healthy.
So start following Festival Lifestyle to remain healthy and start following us to know new Health Mantra.
Our next Health Mantra will be science behind Janmashtmi.
So till next week.
Stay Healthy, Stay Blessed .

Have you ever wondered if there is any role of festivals in keeping us healthy?
Like today is Nagpanchami ……so is there any SCIENCE behind diet and routine advised on Nagpanchami.
Changes in season brings about changes in our body too but we don’t make changes in diet and routine according to change in season so we fall sick.
So how will we know what changes to make in diet and routine to remain Healthy even during season change?
Therefore our ‘Hrishis’ kept festivals during season change, and they advised what diet and routine to be followed during season change as diet and routine of that Festival.
Surprised…..to know …..that there science in our culture and festivals too?
So let’s understand What diet and routine is advised on Nagpanchami?
1. Upvaas – as rainy season is still going on.
2.Don’t Cut and Fry.
3. Milk – Pittah Shamak – Kheer, halwa
Upvaas – Our digestion is governed by sun’s clock. In rainy days as sun is covered with clouds most time of day so our digestive power (agni) is weak. If we eat heavy to digest food then we tend to fall sick.So UPAVAAS is advised.
Do do not CUT and FRY– According to Ayurveda September and October is Pittah prakop Kaal means Pittah is going to increases alot in these month. So as a prevention we are advised to slowly stop eating fried food advised in rainy season.
Milk – Milk we offer to Nagdevta which Symbolically initiates us to start consuming white things as white colour is pittah shamak ie it reduces pittah.
So all things advised on Nagpanchmi are Preventive measures againts october heat .
So our Health Mantra – 05 is
“Start eating white things, do upvaas and reduce eating fried food.”
The diet advised on one festival is not only for that day but that diet and routine should be followed from that festival till next festival.
So follow changes advised on festivals and remain HEALTHY

Stay Healthy, Stay Blessed.

In last blog we learnt the meaning of upwaas , UP means- inside and VAAS means – to go.
UPVAAS means “To go inside ourself and meditate on internal power/atma/ god .”
So the real motive of upvaas is “to achieve mental peace by meditation”.
During Upavaas along with mental peace body peace should also be achieved.
Body peace means giving a break to your digestive system so that it does its pending work, purifies itself and gets revived.
Same ways like how we take a weekly break to do our pending work and get relaxed.
Ayurveda calls it “Langhan”. Langhan means not eating anyting the whole day.
Due to langhan our digestive system which is working continuously gets a break.
But most of us can’t do langhan so you should at least eat light food on the day of fasting .
But we make variety of upvaas receipes and eat double .
Ekadashi Dupaat khashi
i.e. instead of giving break to digestion we give it double work .
So instead of health we end up in all kinds of PITTAH diseases like acidity, pain in abdomen, headache etc.
So our Health Mantra – 04 is – “How to do upvaas?
On day of upvaas we should not eat things which increase PITTAH but you will say khichadi is advised in upwaas …….No , Not Khichadi…..Sabudaana is advised in upwaas .
Sabudana is white in colour , anything which is white is coolant ,it never increases pittah.
So,the real culprit of acidity during upavaas is groundnut and green chillies which we put in in khichadi.
They increases pittah and eating khichadi on empty stomach whole day further by evening or next next day causes all pittha diseases .
So on day of fasting we should eat light food as well food which decrease PITTAH like sabudaana kheer, milk and fruits. They nourish our body , are light to digest and decrease PITTAHas well.
So answer to – How to do upvaas is .
So science behind upvaas is “ Give break to digestion and meditate”.
So lets TAKE A BREAK
Like how we take Sunday off ….do our pending work, cleaning and relax so that we become refreshed for next week work.
Sameways ,we should give our mind and body a break so that they get purified ,revived and ready to work the next week .
So lets start fasting scientifically atleast once a week.
Till next blog….meditate and fast
Stay Healthy, Stay Blessed.

In last blog we discussed that doing fast /upwas keeps us healthy.
But if fast is not done properly then instead of health we land up in diseases.
So let us understand first “What is the real meaning of word “Upwas”ie fasting ?
Upwaas means….Up – Inside and Vaas-Going
Upvaas means “Going inside ourself and meditating on internal power/God/Aatma.“
Almost all the upvaas of the year come in these four rainy months of CHATURMAAS.
WHY?
Because science was told in the form of dharma for everyone to follow and remain healthy.
Dharma says that Lord Vishnu goes in deep “Yognidra”in these four months.
It symbolically initiates us to start doing meditation.
In ancient days , in rainy season not much of outside work used to be there for people so sitting at home people would become idle and will eat more and fall sick or become lazy.
To avoid this, it was told by Dharma that do fasting and meditation.
As fasting keeps us alert and healthy and thus helps in meditation.
Following dharma people started doing upvaas and remained healthy as well achieved mental peace by meditating.
So the actual motto behind fasting was to achieve mind peace through meditation but we don’t do all this during fasting .
We just hurriedly visit temple ,take darshan and eat heavy upwaas varieties.
We neither meditate in house nor in temple .
So with time real motto of upwaas is forgotten.
Let us revive the science behind fasting .
On the day of fast, let’s start meditating for sometime, so gradually by the end of Chaturmaas , by meditating with fasting , we would achieve fruits of mental peace.
So hope you fast doing upwaas with meditation in this chaturmaas and achieve MENTAL PEACE.
In our next blog, we will discuss how to do Upwaas / Fasting without falling sick.
